Foreword.

I am forced by the passing of time, the transition of life stages, and the expectations of society to grow up and to behave like a "grown-up" (whatever that would constitute). But here, I would just be a little childish, a little self-centered, a little irresponsible, a little too honest but also a little too pretentious.

24, and still counting.

Flashback.

Kept all my past posts intact because my past was what made me, me. Deleting them doesn't change who I am so I revisit my memories sometimes, to learn and to laugh at my past mistakes.

(Just kidding, I revert some posts to drafts because I'm utterly embarrassed.)

So recently the details about the prom for the Class of 2014 are out and the question to ask was "to go or not to go". Three years ago I never thought that I would have to ask myself that question. LOL I mean, to a 15 year old girl, prom would be another signal to adulthood (booze party being another), a night of showing off how much you've matured into the elegant lady you've become and well, basically a night to remember right?

At 18 you'll ask yourself, issit worth it?

So here's a breakdown of the $85 bucks that you'll be spending for the entrance fee (i cannot say the cost for the night because the ootn (outfit of the night) will be another burn in the wallet itself). $10 for the expensive-looking venue where you can take photos at. On second thoughts, minus $3 for the bad lighting. $15 for the five-star hotel food, $10 for whatever performance they're going to put up (10 bucks is standard concert price okay! I'm not overcharging) and that leaves us with $53.

That are all the tangible stuff that I can list. Now for the real deal, the intangible things. I would say that the company of important, lifetime-worthy friends aka my very own potential-to-be bridesmaid at my wedding, are priceless. But since we have to put a price tag on it, I will quote $25. Then you would say, with $25, I can still dress up and go cafe-hop, or do a lot more cheap and possibly more fun things. Okay, I don't disagree.

I will give a $10 for the gossips and scandalous things i will witness that night. Okay make that $7 because $7 is the student movie ticket price and since that is something like a graduation night, I'm still a student and I can still pay the discounted price. And then, for the memories that I will collect, will one day turn into the advice I will give my child. What he or she can expect at a (Sg) prom, what clothes look best under those lightings, is her make-up too thick, is he underdress etc.

If my child turns out to be a socially-awkward kid, perhaps after knowing what it's like, i can comfort his or her fears (or advice him or her not to go...). If my child turns out to be a popular kiddo, then perhaps I can tell him or her what kind of popular asshole-ish popz kid I've encountered at prom and advice him or her what-not-to-be (and what not to regret doing) I guess for a parent who confess, "I've been there, done that, it's really all the same though", will earn more respect from their children than one who say "oh I skipped prom actually so I dont know what it's like but aiya it's all the same la".

So for the knowledge and experience which I'll (hopefully) get that night, I will pay, $10? Maybe after going I will declare that this is overpriced but well, this all sums up to $81 bucks already! And for all the laughs and tears that night, I guess the last $4 will make do? .... I'm speaking very positively of course, for I have friends who say, "why pay so much money to watch the popular people show off".

Deep inside, that's my greatest fear about prom. Without doubt, it is also a night of judgement and comparison. And the only pair of eyes judging what you do and what you wear are not just the people there. After the photos are uploaded online, the seniors, juniors, other batchmates who didn't go, will check out what you wear and comment^3. And with people, it will go both ways, you cant please everyone.

Anyways, I guess you can say that I'm quite eggcited about the upcoming prom because of the girls (which I realize I haven't mention - Amy, Christalle, Gladys, Kellie and Jiahui). The girls who I've been spending a lot of time together recently, studying together and whom I realize I miss greatly.

Lunch with these peeps today P: Lazy to post about the drama though #sorrynotsorry

Truth be told I typed out those stuff about a week ago and I didnt complete it because i didnt know how to continue after I got to the part about missing the girls. These kind of things happen when I have too much to say and I dont know where to begin. ... Anyways, we had National Day celebrations in Li Hua today and for the first time in five-ever, I really enjoyed a performance put up by Li Hua. Though theres no surprise what the highlight was (which is, as with every year, the NCC freestyle drill dance.) /random pride from nowhere/

I guess what I really liked about today's celebrations, was how much it had reminded me of my primary school's ones. The way the skit flows from the start, the singing of the songs, reflected my memories of what a national day celebration in school should be like. There were some boring sections of course but this being my last national day celebration held in school, it felt somewhat ... Nostalgic? And I was really glad for Janice who sang to the top of her lungs with me for the Singapore songs like Home, Where I Belong, Reach Out For The Skies, and my fav: Will You. (Oh but have I mentioned that Im tone-deaf, off pitch and off tune? LOL. Yeah the poor people sitting around me man... Or rather, poor me man... kana judge by people who are too old and uptight to have fun)

Im kind of tired at the moment and I just wanted to clear this post out of my drafts so to end off, here's a quote of the day: "Im rooted, but I flow." And it's up for personal interpretation.
